Sometime Ago – Cd Release at Jazz Bistro

Sometime Ago is a new release on Cornerstone Records by Canadian bassist Jim Vivian.
It features the great John Abercrombie on guitar, Ian Froman on drums, and Mike Murley on saxophone (on 3 of 8 tracks).

This recording was in the planning stage for at least a dozen years but was not realized until November 2016 following a few nights of performance at the Jazz Bistro in Toronto. It was recorded in a single Sunday afternoon with minimal studio interference; all the trio tracks are first and only takes with no editing.

Sadly, John passed away in August 2017 before the release of this recording....

There will be a three-night performance of this music in appreciation of the legacy of the late John Abercrombie. Each night features one of Canada’s top jazz guitarists.
